About this puzzle
A large print farm crossword with cows, barns, tractors and roosters. It is an easy, friendly puzzle that often brings back memories of farm visits and country childhoods.
On paper the squares are about .73 inches wide, roomy enough for shaky handwriting or a thick marker. The PDF is laid out like a large print puzzle book: the 10×11 grid has page one to itself, the 12 clues are printed at 18 point on page two, and the answer key is on page three. Lay the first two pages side by side and solve without squinting.
Did you know?
- Roosters crow at many times of day, not only at dawn.
- Pigs roll in mud to stay cool, because they have very few sweat glands.
- An ear of corn usually has an even number of rows of kernels.
Talk about it
- What time did the day start on a farm you knew?
- Which farm animal would you most like to have as a pet?
- Did you ever ride on a tractor or in the back of a pickup truck?
- What did fresh milk, eggs or corn taste like straight from the farm?
Activity tip
Make the animal sounds together as each animal answer is filled in. It sounds silly, but it gets laughs, wakes up a quiet room and helps with word recall.
Questions
Is it suitable for people living with dementia?
