About this puzzle

Big, bold letters and fewer, longer words: an easier-on-the-eyes quilting & sewing word search. Fat quarters, a full bobbin and a quilt top coming together. A quilting word search for the sewing room or the quilt guild meeting.

The large print edition uses an 11×11 grid that fills a letter-size page, and words only run across, down or diagonally down.

All 30 words in this theme: Batting, Binding, Backing, Applique, Patchwork, Fatquarter, Bobbin, Thimble, Rotarycutter, Seamripper, Pincushion, Fabric, Calico, Stitch, Hoop, Block, Logcabin, Starblock, Border, Sashing, Thread, Needle, Scissors, Pattern, Scraps, Pressing, Iron, Cotton, Heirloom, Quiltbee.

Talk about it

Questions to share while solving, for activity groups, memory care or a visit with family:

  • Who taught you to sew or quilt?
  • Do you have a quilt that was made by someone in your family?
  • What was the first thing you ever sewed?
  • Did you ever join a quilting bee or sewing circle?
  • Which quilt pattern is your favorite?

Activity tip: If anyone has a quilt or a fabric scrap to bring, pass it around and look for the stitching words from the puzzle in the real thing.

Questions

How big are the letters?

The grid fills most of a letter-size page, with letters about one and a half times the size of a regular (Medium) word search, and the word list is printed in large type too.

Are these suitable for memory care or activity groups?

Yes. Words only run left to right, top to bottom or diagonally down, so the puzzles are relaxing rather than tricky. Print as many copies as your group needs.

Is there a harder version?

Every theme also has a regular print edition with Easy, Medium and Hard levels.
